The Parachute Regiment Association Durham Branch
The Parachute Regiment Association Durham Branch has meetings on the 1st Saturday of every month at the Masonic Hall, Consett, County Durham starting at 1930 hrs. Members form up from around 1915hrs where they can get a drink from the fully licensed onsite bar. The meetings are official but with an easy going atmosphere with input encourage from all that attend; we do not have a dress code but most people come smart/casual. The meetings generally start with us signing off the minutes of the previous meeting, discussing correspondence received in the interim period along with any Regimental news, any upcoming events or those held since the previous meeting and any other business. If we are being asked to donate branch funds to a particular cause then this is discussed and a vote taken/amount agreed. Our meetings are well attended and we have members from across the Airborne Brotherhood and actively encourage you to spread the word amongst fellow Airborne soldiers past and present as all are welcome! Durham PRA is not full of just the old and bold, although we do have amongst our ranks former soldiers from the earliest days of the Airborne we also have current serving soldiers and those that have left recently having served in the most recent conflicts across the globe as well as an excellent contingent from the Territorial Battalions.
The Durham Branch of the Parachute Regiment Association supports other branches across the UK by attending their events, we also hold our own as well as attending numerous pass out parades of the newly qualified 'joe' and of course have our standard in attendance whenever possible at the funerals of those who have passed.
We are always looking for ways to spice up our meetings as well as our website - why not come along and make some suggestions?
